Comtech Systems Releases Next Generation Troposcatter Communications Products
ORLANDO, FL, August 24, 2009 — Comtech Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corporation (NASDAQ: CMTL), announced today the release of two new products that extend the capability of its leading troposcatter communications product line.
The CSM8100 is a 20 Mb/s digital troposcatter 8 E1 and IP multiplexer designed specifically for operation with terrestrial troposcatter communications links and is fully compatible with Comtech Systems’ family of troposcatter modems. It is programmable from 0 to 8 E1 PDH data streams and additionally serves as a 10/100 base-T Ethernet bridge supporting IP-based data, voice and video traffic. Fully compatible with the CS67200 modem, it supports operation in the deepest of fading environments.
The CS4400 frequency converter is the second new product supporting both microwave and troposcatter applications as well as both dual and quad diversity systems operating in C band (4.4 to 5.0 GHz). The CS4400 incorporates two transmit and four receive channels along with highly stable redundant rubidium timing sources in a compact 3RU chassis. It can be integrated into network management systems using SNMP, supporting remote diagnostics and control.
“These leading edge products have features that expand the use of troposcatter systems in IP and wide-band communications networks to take full advantage of the 22 Mb/s channel capacity of our troposcatter links”, said Dick Burt, president of Comtech Systems, Inc. “This represents the commitment of Comtech Systems to the continuous improvement of high capacity beyond line of sight communications,” he added.
Comtech Systems Inc. is the leading supplier of troposcatter communications products for defense and industrial customers around the world for beyond line-of-sight high capacity applications. Additional information about Comtech Systems Inc. is available at www.localhost/comtech.
