Path Calculations: Comtech Systems provides a complete path engineering and design service for prospective customers and current customers. Using our troposcatter path loss and performance prediction program and a digital terrain data base, we can predict the error rate and availability for any troposcatter link anyplace in the world. Comtech Systems’ software was developed using industry recognized NBS Tech Note 101, CCIR climate types, and ITU availability recommendations, and later enhanced based on installed systems and field data. Using our new digital terrain data base we can predict path performance and estimate equipment requirements in a timely and efficient manner.

Site Surveys: Comtech Systems provides a complete site survey service for prospective customers and current customers. During a site survey we visit possible sites or sites already chosen for a project, collect location data, site elevations, accessibility, site utilities, surrounding terrain for path calculations, and gauge the overall suitability of a site for its intended purpose. Using site survey data as an input to our path prediction process, we can be assured that the predicted performance and equipment design will have a high probability of meeting project requirements.

Training: Comtech Systems provides complete in-house training at their facility in Orlando, Florida, or at the customer’s site using installed equipment and customer facilities. During in-house training at Comtech Systems in Orlando, Florida, students get classroom instruction and hands-on training on equipment. The training can include troposcatter, microwave, HF, VHF, and UHF radio systems. Comtech also provides classroom instruction and equipment training in the field at customer facilities.

Installation and Commissioning: Comtech Systems offers complete installation and commissioning services. The installation and commissioning services can be done in cooperation with the end user after factory training with technical direction from a Comtech Systems’ field engineer. This approach provides hands-on field training and some familiarity with the equipment prior to system operation. During the installation and commissioning process, the system is tested locally at each site and over the radio paths, test data is collected and recorded, as built site documents are updated, and a complete inventory of equipment handed over is recorded. This process is designed to provide a complete delivery package to the system operator.
