Comtech Systems is currently supplying upgrade kits to modernize legacy transportable and tactical troposcatter terminals. The Comtech Systems’ upgrade kit is a plug and play replacement for older troposcatter modems. The Comtech Systems upgrade kit improves link performance and simultaneously doubles the bit rate of legacy troposcatter terminals (from 4 Mbps to rates up to 16 Mbps). The upgrade kit is based on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment and is available in transportable transit cases for easy installation in the field. Comtech Systems’ kit is currently being used to upgrade the US Military legacy AN/TRC-170 troposcatter terminals. A picture of the upgrade kit is shown below.
