Comtech Systems provided an air transportable troposcatter system consisting of multiple truck mounted troposcatter terminals, mast mount antennas, and a trailerized generator system for a military application. The equipment was based on commercial off the shelf (COTS) technology using Comtech’s digital adaptive troposcatter modem, digital radios, and supporting equipment. Shelterization, integration, and testing was done at Comtech’s large, high bay manufacturing facility in Orlando, Florida. Using COTS technology allowed the system to be manufactured and shipped quickly and with minimum development and engineering changes.
