Path Profile for Troposcatter Link

Comtech Systems provides a complete path analysis software system for troposcatter path calculations, performance predictions, availability calculations, and equipment design for a tropo link. This is done by analyzing the path geometry, path parameters, climate type, path loss distribution, received signal distribution, and availability. There are user inputs for equipment parameters, climate type, antenna heights, and service probability. The software was developed as an aid to quickly establish the equipment requirements for a tropo link. The software is based on industry recognized troposcatter path calculations (NBS Tech Note 101 and ITU recommendations), and a global, digital terrain elevation model (DTEM or DEM) data base. The software allows the user to create a path profile based on a DEM and then run the path calculations and performance predictions.

An example of a path profile created by the Comtech Systems path analysis software is shown above. The program also creates screens and printouts that show the equipment parameters, the path loss distribution, received signal strength distribution, and availability based on CCITT G.821 and ITU-R F.697 recommendations. Output is available to a file, screen, and printer.

The path analysis software and training is available from Comtech Systems. The software and digital terrain files are designed to run on any computer with Windows 2000 or later operating system.
