Comtech’s advanced digital troposcatter terminal is designed to accommodate the full range of tropo paths, user availability and capacity requirements. The tropo terminal is equipped with an 20 Mb/sec modem that performs the functions of a diversity combiner while also adaptively canceling intersymbol interference. It includes a quad diversity frequency converter for frequency bands between 1800-2400 MHz, 4400-5000 Mhz and 7400-7700 MHz in synthesized or fixed-tuned configurations. The tropo terminal is designed to interface with the US, ITU or European standards. As with all of its other troposcatter products, Comtech has made extensive use of built-in test equipment (BITE). More than 50 internal digital and analog parameters are continuously monitored and logged. Microprocessor controlled programmable display, audible alarms, and remote status indications are provided, thus eliminating the need for external test equipment to isolate faults and measure normal or marginal operating conditions. At the heart of the digital tropo terminal is the digital adaptive tropo modem. The tropo terminal is completely accessible from the front and is available in either transportable or fixed-plant configurations.
