JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs Link Calculations and system design for Line-of-Sight and Tropospheric Scatter (Over-The-Horizon) communications systems.

Accomplishes RF loss calculations for receive and transmit circuits that will include isolators, circulators, diplexers, duplexers and RF cabling.

As a minimum, Equipment knowledge must include microwave radios, multiplex, Monitor and Control systems, high power amplifiers, UPS equipment, RF and IF Patching equipment, Fiber Optic equipment, antennas and transmission lines.

Knowledge of the operation of shop and field test equipment to include Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power Meters and BER Testers is essential.

Prepares proposals including technical descriptions, costing and implementation plans for specific projects.

For Captured programs, assists in the development or modification of specification control drawings, engineering releases and engineering change notices. Prepares equipment assembly drawings, including equipment room or shelter layout drawings, cable interconnect drawings and wire run lists.

Prepares Factory acceptance test plans, installation plans and Commissioning test procedures. Assists Test Technicians in conducting test procedures.

Prepares training plans and training course material and conducts training for customer engineers and technicians.

Supervises the installation and commissioning and acceptance of equipment at overseas locations when required.
