Mobile Troposcatter Communications Demonstration
Macon, Georgia
19 – 21 January, 2010

Comtech Systems displayed and demonstrated the latest generation of mobile and transportable troposcatter communications systems from 19-21 January. The 70 mile shot, in Georgia, from Macon to Americus was closed using the Comtech Transportable Fast Link Antenna and the transit case mounted Mobile Transportable Tropo System (MTTS). The demonstration showed how, within 30 minutes, the TFLA can be deployed and the far end automatically acquired. Throughput of data, voice and video at rates of up to 20 Mb/s was demonstrated along with the Extended Data Rate capability that takes the total link throughput to 40 Mb/s.
The Comtech auto code rate feature in the CS67200 modem showed the optimization of the bandwidth under improving or degrading link conditions. A video conference was also held featuring a tutorial on the Comtech path analysis software led from the Americus end of the link.
Representatives from all US services using troposcatter communications and several international military organizations including the NATO BLOS Users Group were present for the demonstrations. |
