Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Announces a $3.1 Million Contract to Provide Over-the-Horizon Microwave Capability for U.S. Military Tactical Transmission Systems
MELVILLE, N.Y., Mar 8, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq: CMTL) announced today that its Orlando, Florida-based subsidiary, Comtech Systems, Inc., has received a $3.1 million contract award from a U.S. prime contractor to provide its over-the-horizon microwave troposcatter products for integration into four U.S. Military tactical transmission systems. Upon completion of this contract, these four tactical communications terminals will have both line-of-sight microwave and over-the-horizon microwave troposcatter communications capabilities. The U.S. Military has plans to add this over-the-horizon troposcatter communications capability to approximately 150 of its inventoried systems.
Comtech Systems will provide troposcatter radios with adaptive digital modems, troposcatter power control and quality monitoring systems and high power amplifiers for these systems. Comtech Systems was chosen to provide this equipment due to its field-proven, high-data rate 8MBS digital troposcatter modem, and its state-of-the-art automatic troposcatter transmit power control and quality monitoring system, used to optimize the transmitted power from high power amplifiers working in the over-the-horizon microwave communications environment.
